    switch_experiment_mode

    Switch the active subject and experiment topic. The 3D scene changes to match the chosen topic.

    mix_substances

    Mix two substances in the 3D simulation. Each one is first measured out on the bench, liquids into graduated cylinders and powders onto a spatula, then added to the beaker one at a time, and the liquid takes on the colour, bubbles or precipitate the reaction produces.

    explain_reaction_step

    Explain one step of the reaction in the active topic to the student, and show it in the observation panel. Steps run from 1 to 4 and build on each other.

    render_lab_report

    Write up the experiment as an observation report and show it in the observation panel. Call this once the reaction has been observed and explained.

    trigger_safety_alert

    Show an educational safety alert when a combination of substances needs extra care, teaching safety awareness as part of the lesson.

    get_lab_state

    Read the current lab state: active topic, what is in the beaker, liquid colour, temperature, and the observation log so far. Call this before deciding on the next step.

  7. 7
    reset_experiment

    Empty the beaker and start the current topic over from the beginning.
